Triple Eight Acquires 187 Killer Pads

Print Friendly and PDF

Best Helmets.  Best Pads.

Two Brands.  Both Coasts.

One Company.

Two legendary protective gear brands have come together as Triple Eight has acquired 187 Killer Pads.  This is a great thing for the industry and will make the two brands even stronger and better able to support retailers and riders around the world.

The acquisition is a perfect fit as the product lines, price-points, brand headquarters, distribution, staff and company cultures are largely complimentary.  Both brands will continue to operate independently.  Triple Eight has been based in New York since 1995.  Vinton Pacetti and his team will stay at 187 headquarters in Vista, CA. The two brands will leverage their combined resources to add value to their retail customers.

“We’ve always admired Vinton’s deep personal commitment and unwavering passion for making phenomenal knee and elbow pads.  This has been key to 187’s standing as the brand that top athletes choose.  We’re excited to boost the potential of both brands by maximizing all the talent, skills and connections now under one umbrella.”

--Bobby Oppenheim, Founder and President of Triple Eight

“This move allows us to keep growing the brand in the same authentic way, but with a supercharge from the operational excellence and retail channel distribution of Triple Eight.  We will continue to focus on developing the best protective gear out there.  We’re stoked for the future of 187 as part of the Triple Eight family!

--Vinton Pacetti, Founder and President of 187 Killer Pads

187 Killer Pads has been designing and constructing pads for top professionals for the past decade. Started by a long-time skater in a family-owned upholstery shop, 187 Killer Pads has since become the preferred choice of skaters worldwide. With its visionary designs and revolutionary systems, 187 Killer Pads continues to lead the way in raising industry standards and making protective gear better.

Triple Eight was born on the streets of New York City.  Back in 1995, we hit the pavement—literally—with our first helmet, and have been developing tough, stylish protective gear for the action sports industry ever since. Our team is continuously dreaming up new products, incorporating new technology, and maintaining our hard-earned reputation for skate, bike, snow, water and derby gear of the highest quality and craftsmanship. After all, we’re not only making the products, we’re using them too.

Triple Eight Distribution, Inc. is the global leader in action sports protective gear with Triple Eight, 187 Killer Pads, Wipeout Dry Erase Protective Gear, Eightball Protective Gear, and distribution of SISU Mouthguards.
